Privacy Policy

This policy describes the limited visitor information handled by Albany Residents Directory and the choices available to you. The site is a private reference to Albany, New York public-record sources and historical directory collections. It does not require an account and does not keep a visitor's searches as its own record collection.

Information You Submit

A name, phone number, or address entered into a search form is sent to the outside provider that supplies the results. Our servers do not retain a separate copy of those searches. If you contact us, we receive the information in your message and use it to respond.

Information Collected by Routine Use

Like most hosted sites, the service records ordinary log data such as an IP address, browser type, viewed pages, and timestamps. We use aggregate information to operate and improve the site. Cookies or related tools may be used for basic analytics and, when applicable, advertising measurement.

How Information Is Used

Information is used to run the service, diagnose issues, measure overall traffic, and improve the reference pages. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual visitor profiles.

External Websites

Links may lead to Albany County or New York portals, libraries, archives, and outside search services. The privacy policy of the destination controls information submitted there. Sponsored results are provided by a third party and follow that provider's practices.

Parties That May Process Data

Hosting and support providers process logs in order to provide the service. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. We disclose information only when required by valid legal process or as otherwise permitted by law.

Safeguards and Retention

The site uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for the operational purposes described above. There are no Albany Residents Directory accounts, passwords, or user profiles to maintain. Where applicable, safeguards are informed by New York's SHIELD Act, General Business Law §§899-aa/899-bb.

Visitors Under 18

This resource is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If you believe that a minor has sent information to us, contact us so it can be removed.

Your Information Choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to ask about access, correction, or deletion of personal information a website retains. Since this service retains very little, a request generally involves checking the contact mailbox and relevant logs, then removing material that can be identified. Use the Contact page for a request. Public records held by New York state, county, or city custodians are outside our control; New York Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) requests arise under Public Officers Law Article 6 §§84-90 and must go to the office holding the record.

Policy Changes

Any revision will appear on this page. Continued use after publication of a revision means acceptance of the updated policy.
